History
-
The company Leon Vincent was created in Calais in 1932 by Mr Léon
-
Vincent. In 1897, he took a small business of handling and maritime
-
transit rested by his father in 1871. He developed it and, step by step,
-
transformed it (about 1918) into "maritime general Agency".
-
At that time, the activity of the company was first based
-
on wood and coal business in Calais.
-
Then, the company prospered, opening agencies in
-
Boulogne, Dieppe, Fécamp and Le Tréport. At that time the company
-
took the name of "Léon Vincent".
-
In Dieppe, Lucien Bodel gained the first banana traffic from
-
the Canaries. It was the beginning of diversification of the
-
commerce: they have added fruits to their activities.
-
Other traffics and settlements on other sites have led to develop its
-
skills and to strengthen its presence on the national territory,
-
but also in the Antilles and in Africa.
-
In 2006 Léon Vincent split its activities of fruit’s logistics and
-
stevedoring and focused on its first vocation as an international freight
-
forwarder and took the name of LV Overseas.
